A closer look.

“Magnificent Daisy” by Jill Doherty

So I’ve never really considered myself much of a writer—outside of my poetry and the many pages of my personal journal. But… here I am.

I’m curious to see if I can tie it all together—words, images, and the quiet observations that move me. Maybe this blog can become a space where my heart and passion find a voice through both art and reflection. We’ll see.

I love the way photography makes me feel. I love being inspired to take a photo every time something catches my eye, which honestly feels like all the time. Yesterday, it was the soft, intricate beauty of a Gerber daisy. I picked it up, almost instinctively, and took a moment to really study it. Have you ever spent even just a minute or two looking closely at the magnificence of a flower? (Oh, and then of course I had to photograph it!)

The details are breathtaking. The tiny textures, the curve of each petal, the way the light falls on each one so delicately. It reminded me of why I do what I do—because that same awe and tenderness shows up when I photograph people. When we slow down and truly see someone—not just their surface, but their essence and authenticity—something powerful happens.

That’s the heart of my portrait work, capturing the true magnificence of each beautiful soul who steps in front of my camera.

With Love~Jill
